CURLS HAPPY WAGON LEADS OKLAHOMA DERBY QUALIFIERS AT REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY -- March 11, 2018 – The final five races of 14 total on Sunday afternoon at Remington Park were trials for the Grade 3, $218,000 Oklahoma DerbyCurls Happy Wagon posted the best time for the 350-yard heats, crossing the finish the second trial in :17.107 over a fast track.

The trials were aided by a northerly tailwind that moved between 16-19mph. Curls Happy Wagon flew to a one-length win in her victory over PYC Fun N Fancy, who also qualified, as the second-fastest in the trials.

Owned by the Irving, Texas partnership of Michael Pohl and Martin Stacy, Curls Happy Wagon is trained by Stacy Hill and was ridden by Jorge Torres. A 3-year-old filly by PYC Paint Your Wagon from the Spit Curl Jess mare Spit Curl Girl, Curls Happy Wagon won her third career race from as many attempts. Pohl and Stacy bred the filly in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Derby will be part of the undercard on Oklahoma Futurity Night, Saturday, March 24. The field of 10, with individual times and trial number:

Hill qualified two from her barn for the Oklahoma Derby, also sending Little Kool Corona. Trainer Amanda Tongay also qualified two for the derby in PYC Fun N Fancy and La Vencedora.

The 2018 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park continues Thursday thru Sunday, March 15-18. The first race is at 6pm nightly, except for Sunday afternoon, when the action starts at 1:30pm. All times are Central.
