RAIL MOVE PAYS OFF FOR JESS A HILBILY BONE IN REMINGTON PARK DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

OKLAHOMA CITY - June 3, 2017 – Jess A Hilbily Bone won the Grade 2, $50,588 Remington Park Distance Championship with a dramatic rally up the rail to win by 1-1/4 lengths as the betting favorite at 2-1 odds.

After settling back to fifth-place in the early running of the 870-yard race around the turn, the gelded son of Rock Solid Jess, out of the Game Patriot mare, Imaginiff, Jess A Hilbily Bone was ridden courageously by jockey Benito Baca. The pair had notched an emphatic 5-1/2 length win the race prior, on May 6th.

“After that last race, his heart just grew 10-times. He’s been training awesome and I knew if he had a little bit of daylight he was going to go on by,” Baca said.

The homebred of Rockin J Running Horses of Gatesville, Texas earned $29,838 for his connections and boosted his lifetime earnings to $119,610. He covered the distance in 45.303 seconds over a fast track.

Jess A Hilbily Bone is trained by Tammy Johnson and has now won eight of 35 lifetime races. “This horse is game. It’s unusual for a horse to gain after they run as much as we’ve run him here. Every time, he’s gained weight. We are very proud of everything that has happened here. It’s been a wonderful meet,” said Johnson.

Jess A Hilbilly Bone paid $6.80 to win, $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show. Eyesa Shoofly Dandy was the second-choice in the win wagering at 5-2 odds after he had won the Grade 3 Pauls Valley Handicap in his previous Remington Park race. He set the pace and was caught late to pay $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show. Admiral Zoomwalt raced three-wide throughout and stubbornly gave way to finish third, paying $4 to show.

Live horse racing is now on hiatus at Remington Park until the 2017 Thoroughbred Season which runs Aug. 25 thru Dec. 17.
